Dubai Supreme Council of Energy has officially launched the fifth cycle of Emirates Energy Award (EEA) 2023–2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The award, held under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is themed “Empowering Carbon Neutrality”. The announcement was made during a press conference held today (Tuesday, January 14) at the Hyatt Regency Riyadh Olaya Hotel.
The event was attended by a distinguished group of representatives from the energy and environmental sectors, alongside members of the private and academic sectors and a wide array of media outlets.
The conference featured key speakers, including Engineer Faisal Ali Rashid – Senior Director Demand Side Management, Mr. Nasser Al Shaiba – Director HSEQ & climate change at Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and Mr. Ali Al Suwaidi, Senior Manager, Corporate Communications and Media, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Vice Chairman of the Marketing and Events Committee of Emirates Energy Award (EEA).
In his address at the event, Engineer Faisal Ali Rashid, stated, “We are pleased to launch the fifth cycle of the Emirates Energy Award 2023–2025 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a country playing a pivotal role in supporting regional and global efforts to advance the transition to clean and renewable energy. This initiative aligns with the Award’s objectives of fostering innovation and promoting the use of creative technologies to address climate change challenges and enhance sustainability.”
A recent report by the Energy Industries Council highlighted that the Middle East is set to invest USD 75.63 billion in 116 renewable energy projects expected to commence operations between 2025 and 2030. These projects span solar energy, onshore wind, hydropower, hydrogen production, carbon capture, utilization and storage, geothermal energy, and energy storage and battery systems.
Engineer Faisal Ali Rashid added, “Since its inception, the Emirates Energy Award has attracted significant participation from various countries, with Saudi Arabia making notable contributions through innovative energy solutions. We look forward to receiving more valuable projects from the Kingdom during this new cycle to help address climate change challenges and drive sustainable development.”
Mr. Nasser Al Shaiba further stressed the importance of the Award in recognizing the efforts of public and private sectors in energy efficiency projects, enhancing education and scientific research, and encouraging active contributors to this vital sector.
In conclusion, Mr. Nasser Al Shaiba expressed his gratitude and appreciation to all attendees, including officials, institutions, partners, and media representatives. He praised Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in advancing sustainability and renewable energy initiatives on both regional and international levels
On his part, Mr. Ali Al-Suwaidi, delivered a detailed overview of the Award, its goals, and its diverse categories, which have established it as a global platform in the energy sector. He emphasized that the Award seeks to highlight best practices in energy efficiency and innovation, promote the use of renewable energy, and underscore its positive economic and environmental impact.
